October 2019 Athlete of The Month: Susanne Gubert!

Each month we spotlight a different CrossFit 1710 athlete who stands out and shows just how awesome they are. What is it that makes up an Athlete of the Month? It may not be the person that finishes the fastest, Rx’s every WOD, or gets a PR every time they walk in the gym. Although we love and celebrate when those things happen, the Athlete of the Month is made up of much more than physical ability. This person shows up, gives their best every time, and then gives a little more. They are hungry to learn and always ready to do the work. They support their fellow athletes and encourage them to reach their goals. This athlete embodies what we believe the CrossFit 1710 Community should be about.


Our October 2019 Athlete of The Month is Susanne Gubert! Susanne works extremely hard and push herself to be better every day! You'll find Susanne in the 5:00am or 4:45p class. Come and join her in a workout and you’ll see why she's our AOTM! Get to know Susanne in her interviews below. Congratulations Susanne! 1. TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF. 

My name is Susanne Gubert. I am 49 years old. My daughter is a senior in High School.


2. WHAT MADE YOU START CROSSFIT?

My daughter wanted to get some workouts in before heading off to her volleyball pre-season workouts in Indiana. I like to try new things and have always wanted to try CrossFit.


3. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED SINCE JOINING CROSSFIT 1710?

Jason and Jodie are fantastic coaches. I learn new things everyday about proper form and technique when lifting.


4. WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT CORSSFIT 1710 OR CROSSFIT IN GENERAL? 

I enjoy working out with everyone at Cross Fit 1710. They are all really amazing and make it great. We definitely have lots of fun.


5. WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST CROSSFIT MOMENT? 

Working on my squat cleans,front squats and over head squats.


6. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVEMENT/LIFT? LEAST FAVORITE?

At the beginning, I really disliked the overhead squats,front squats and burpees. Now I love them.


7. WHAT IMPACT HAS CROSSFIT HAD ON YOUR LIFE IN AND OUT OF THE GYM?

I love the way Cross Fit has made me feel. I am not a morning person at all, but I sure don’t mind getting up at 4am to go to class when I know I cannot make the other classes later in the day. Some days I just like getting up and going when it’s cooler.


8. WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS AND HOW CLOSE ARE YOU TO REACHING THEM?

I want to build lots of lean muscle, increase my strength, endurance and agility.


9. WHEN YOU’RE NOT CROSSFITTING WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO?

Spending time with the people I love. I enjoy anything outdoors.


10. THE ONE TIP YOU’D GIVE SOMEONE WHO IS THINKING ABOUT STARTING CROSSFIT OR JUST STARTED?

I believe everyone should give CrossFit a try. The workouts can be scaled down to match your level. The coaches will help you and everyone is so encouraging.


11. WHAT IS YOUR DIET LIKE? HAS IT CHANGED SINCE STARTING CROSSFIT? 

At the end of June I cut out all sweets and white carbs. I stick to a high protein - low carb meal plan. CrossFit has motivated me to continue cutting sweets and white carbs from my diet. I pay more attention to my daily calorie, protein,and carb intake, making sure I get enough of each. I have added lots of berries to my diet.


12. RESULTS? TELL US ABOUT YOUR RESULTS! 

I am really impressed with my results so far. I started sometime in August and I have attended approx 28 classes. I can see and feel the difference it is making on my body. I have more energy and I am getting stronger.


FREEWRITE:

I try to make it to Cross Fit at least 5-6 days a week. (Whatever my time allows)I am really excited to see my results 3 months-6 months and 1 to 2 years from now.
