Each month we spotlight a different CrossFit 1710 athlete who stands out and shows just how awesome they are. What is it that makes up an Athlete of the Month? It may not be the person that finishes the fastest, Rx’s every WOD, or gets a PR every time they walk in the gym. Although we love and celebrate when those things happen, the Athlete of the Month is made up of much more than physical ability. This person shows up, gives their best every time, and then gives a little more. They are hungry to learn and always ready to do the work. They support their fellow athletes and encourage them to reach their goals. This athlete embodies what we believe the CrossFit 1710 Community should be about.
Our November 2024 Athlete of The Month is Francesca Adams! Fran joined the CrossFit 1710 team in August 2022 and is one of our most consistent and driven athletes. She is also our youngest, active athlete! Every time Fran comes through the door, she is determined to put in work and give 100%. Fran was one of only 3 individuals who completed Coach Shannon's Turning 40 Challenge. Francesca completed 4 miles and 40 burpees, 6 days a week from July 1 - October 21. Obviously, Fran is an exceptional 11 year old with big goals and incredible determination! Fran- we are super proud of your consistent pursuit of personal growth, commitment to excellence, and competitive spirit!

1. TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF.
My name is Francesca Adams and I’m 11 years old. My parents are Billy and Nicole and I have a younger brother, Quitman. My hometown is Boling and I’m a parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic church. My favorite subject is Reading and my favorite sport is basketball. When I grow up I want to be a teacher and a CrossFit coach.
2. WHAT MADE YOU START CROSSFIT? My mom is a member at CrossFit1710 and I would always ask her what they did in the workout and it seemed really fun so I decided to try it out.
3. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED SINCE JOINING CROSSFIT 1710?
I’ve learned that consistency pays off and that having great form is more important than finishing first.
4. WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT CROSSFIT 1710?
I love spending time with my mom and coaches and doing all the fun workouts. A couple of things that people can expect when they come to our gym is that it can be challenging, but so much fun.
5. WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST CROSSFIT MOMENT?
My proudest moment is when I back squatted 73 pounds twice!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVEMENT OR LIFT?
Handstand walks and Deadlifts are my favorite movements and lifts.
WHAT IS YOUR LEAST FAVORITE MOVEMENT OR LIFT?
I would have to say that Squats and Overhead Squats are my least favorite movements and lifts.
WHAT IS THE IMPACT CROSSFIT HAS HAD ON YOUR LIFE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE GYM?
CrossFit has helped me improve my mile time at school and get better in softball and basketball.
9. WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS AND HOW CLOSE ARE YOU TO REACHING THEM?
My goal is to do a Ring Muscle Up and Handstand push up.
WHEN YOU’RE NOT CROSSFITTING WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO?
I love to play basketball, softball and play outdoors with my brother.
WHAT IS THE ONE TIP YOU’D GIVE SOMEONE WHO IS THINKING ABOUT STARTING CROSSFIT OR JUST STARTED?
If you don’t think you can do something like a hard movement, just trust the coaches and believe in yourself.
WHAT IS YOUR DIET LIKE? HOW HAS IT CHANGED SINCE STARTING CROSSFIT?
I eat clean most of the time and I drink a lot of water, but I enjoy pizza on Fridays. I’ve also incorporated more protein in my diet.
RESULTS? TELL US ABOUT YOUR RESULTS!
I can see some definition in my abs and legs, and I don’t stress as much in school.
FREE WRITE: I hope to compete in the CrossFit games one day and play basketball for Coach Gibson when I get to high school.
