May 2022 Athlete of the Month
Each month we spotlight a different CrossFit 1710 athlete who stands out and shows just how awesome they are. What is it that makes up an Athlete of the Month? It may not be the person that finishes the fastest, Rx’s every WOD, or gets a PR every time they walk in the gym. Although we love and celebrate when those things happen, the Athlete of the Month is made up of much more than physical ability. This person shows up, gives their best every time, and then gives a little more. They are hungry to learn and always ready to do the work. They support their fellow athletes and encourage them to reach their goals. This athlete embodies what we believe the CrossFit 1710 Community should be about.
Our May 2022 Athlete of The Month is Cody Pohler! Cody originally began CrossFitting with us on May 31, 2021 and has an awesome comeback story! After experiencing a major (Non-Crossfit related) injury, Cody took time off to recover. After healing and rehabilitation, Cody came back to CrossFit 1710 with awesome motivation and drive. You will find Cody getting his workout in for the day in our 5:00 am CrossFit class. Come and join Cody in a workout and you too will see what he is talking about and why he's our AOTM! 1. TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF (PERSONAL BACKGROUND: FAMILY, CAREER, HOBBIES).
My name is Cody Pohler. I am a Christian, Husband & Father, Veterinarian, and Owner of multiple businesses.
2. WHEN DID YOU BEGIN CROSSFIT? WHO/WHAT INFLUENCED YOU TO START CROSSFIT?
I attended my very first CrossFit class in May 2021. I wanted to stay in shape and be fit & healthy.
3. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED ABOUT YOURSELF SINCE JOINING CROSSFIT 1710?
I have learned tons of different workouts. CrossFit 1710 has a great group of people who are very encouraging.
4. WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT CROSSFIT 1710 OR CROSSFIT IN GENERAL?
I enjoy the different workouts each day and the satisfaction of completing them daily.
5. WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST CROSSFIT MOMENT?
I am proud of recovering from a work-related injury, being healed, and getting back into CrossFit.
6. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVEMENT/LIFT? WHAT IS YOUR LEAST FAVORITE MOVEMENT/LIFT?
Favorite: Box Jumps
Least Favorite: Overhead Squats
7. WHAT IMPACT HAS CROSSFIT HAD ON YOUR LIFE IN AND OUT OF THE GYM?
CrossFit gets me up and going each day.
8. WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS AND HOW CLOSE ARE YOU TO REACHING THEM?
My goal is to get in the best shape possible. I feel like I’m halfway there.
9. WHEN YOU’RE NOT CROSSFITTING WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO?
Spending time with my family and running my businesses.
10. WHAT IS THE ONE TIP YOU’D GIVE SOMEONE WHO IS THINKING ABOUT STARTING CROSSFIT OR JUST STARTED?
Just show up and give it a try. You will love the challenge.
11. WHAT IS YOUR DIET LIKE? HAS IT CHANGED SINCE STARTING CROSSFIT?
I try to eat healthy. Honestly, it hasn’t changed much.
12. RESULTS! TELL US ABOUT YOUR RESULTS!
I’m in better shape, but not where I want to be yet.
