Each month we spotlight a different CrossFit 1710 athlete who stands out and shows just how awesome they are. What is it that makes up an Athlete of the Month? It may not be the person that finishes the fastest, Rx’s every WOD, or gets a PR every time they walk in the gym. Although we love and celebrate when those things happen, the Athlete of the Month is made up of much more than physical ability. This person shows up, gives their best every time, and then gives a little more. They are hungry to learn and always ready to do the work. They support their fellow athletes and encourage them to reach their goals. This athlete embodies what we believe the CrossFit 1710 Community should be about.
Our May 2021 Athlete of The Month is Adriane Borges! Adriane began her CrossFit journey with us on October 13, 2020. Every workout with Adriane is fun! She is very coachable, has an awesome attitude, and courageously steps out of her comfort zone. Because of her consistency with these awesome attributes, we see excellent growth in both Adriane's physical strength and mental toughness. You will find Adriane getting her workout in for the day in our 4:30p and/or 5:30p. Come and join Adriane in a workout and you too will see what she is talking about and why she's our AOTM! 1. TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF.
I am Adriane Borges, married to Marcos Borges and we have a daughter named Stephanie.
We are Brazilians. I love this country and I love living in Texas.
2. WHAT MADE YOU START CROSSFIT?
I wanted to lose weight, but didn't have the motivation to start. Then a heard about Crossfit
and decided to try.
3. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED SINCE JOINING CROSSFIT 1710?
I learned to slow down and do the right exercise. And Also to set goals and that there is always room for improvement.
4. WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT CORSSFIT 1710 OR CROSSFIT IN GENERAL?
What I like most about the crossfit 1710 is the energy, friendship, support from everyone.
It's like a family. You feel good being there. And the help of the coaches is fantastic and they are excellent professionals.They are always telling you the correct way to do the exercises and checking if we are performing well.
5. WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST CROSSFIT MOMENT?
When I was able to do a push press after thinking i wasn't able to do it.
6. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVEMENT/LIFT? LEAST FAVORITE?
I like all exercises, but the movement I like least is bear crawling because it always hurts my wrist.
7. WHAT IMPACT HAS CROSSFIT HAD ON YOUR LIFE IN AND OUT OF THE GYM?
It helped me to be more flexible and energetic. I used to get very tired at first,
but now I can do more things without getting out of breath.
8. WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS AND HOW CLOSE ARE YOU TO REACHING THEM?
I want to be in the best shape possible. And I also want to be very strong and able to do all the exercises. I am trying my best to accomplish these goals.
