January 2022 Athlete of the Month: A'lexis Aguilar

Each month we spotlight a different CrossFit 1710 athlete who stands out and shows just how awesome they are. What is it that makes up an Athlete of the Month? It may not be the person that finishes the fastest, Rx’s every WOD, or gets a PR every time they walk in the gym. Although we love and celebrate when those things happen, the Athlete of the Month is made up of much more than physical ability. This person shows up, gives their best every time, and then gives a little more. They are hungry to learn and always ready to do the work. They support their fellow athletes and encourage them to reach their goals. This athlete embodies what we believe the CrossFit 1710 Community should be about.


Our January 2022 Athlete of The Month is A'lexis Aguilar! A'lexis began her CrossFit journey with us on November 18th, 2021. Every workout with A'lexis is fun! She is super coachable, loves to laugh, has an awesome attitude, and gives every workout her best! Because of her consistency with these awesome attributes, we see excellent growth in A'lexis' physical and mental strength to put in the work to achieve her desired goals. You will find A'lexis getting her workout in for the day in our 5:00 am and/or 5:30 pm class. Come and join A'lexis in a workout and you too will see what she is talking about and why she's our AOTM! Congratulations A'lexis! We’re so happy to have you as our January 2022 Athlete of the Month and as an awesome athlete in our community! Get to know A'lexis in her interview below.




1. TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF.

Hi ,my name is A’Lexis ! I’m 26 years old . I don’t have much to tell besides I’m a very busy

mom/ wife who is always on the go . I work at a daycare as a cook and other job duties . If you know me and see me I’m known for my smile :)


2. WHAT MADE YOU START CROSSFIT?

I started cross-fit because I’ve seen a change in my sister Christan, anytime I would

ask about it she would say how much fun it was but also have been look into getting in shape & challenge myself.


3. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED SINCE JOINING CROSSFIT 1710?

I can do any workout & can change 1% everyday just by showing up to class.


4. WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT CROSSFIT 1710 OR CROSSFIT IN GENERAL?

The motivation / energy and support everyone has at the gym.


5. WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST CROSSFIT MOMENT?

My proudest moment was being able to lift 90 lbs about 2 weeks ago.


6. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVEMENT/LIFT? LEAST FAVORITE?

When I push pressed 95lbs . I mean I didn’t get to use that as my max but man I felt so strong!


7. WHAT IMPACT HAS CROSSFIT HAD ON YOUR LIFE IN AND OUT OF THE GYM?

The impact that cross-fit has on my life that I can slowly change 1% everyday . I just have to keep trying and getting up even when its not easy .


8. WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS AND HOW CLOSE ARE YOU TO REACHING THEM?

My goals are to be able to build my cardio up such as long distance running that's my biggest weakness . Also building arm strength being able to do push ups/ pull ups that

I’ve never been able to do. I have a long journey just but slowly getting there . When I first started I wasn’t able to do knee ups good but I’ve slowly gotten better


9. WHEN YOU’RE NOT CROSSFITTING WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO?

Cooking ! Also relaxing At home since I’m always on the Go!


10. THE ONE TIP YOU’D GIVE SOMEONE WHO IS THINKING ABOUT STARTING CROSSFIT OR JUST STARTED?

Don’t Quite because your body is hurting and sore . As my coach Jodie encouraged me my first week of started , if your sore MORE cross-fit!!!!


11. WHAT IS YOUR DIET LIKE? HAS IT CHANGED SINCE STARTING CROSSFIT?

My Diet I slowly changing . I’ve been making small changes like cutting soda and some sugars out of diet since that is my biggest weakness . But on the weekends I try my best to meal prep so I don’t eat as bad during the week . I’ve notice cheat on meals when I’m frustrated or overwhelmed .


12. RESULTS? TELL US ABOUT YOUR RESULTS!

I haven’t weighed myself since I started cross-fit, only because I get discourage when I look at the scale . But I have notice a change when I put on my clothes they fit better & have more energy ! Some of my family members have notice a change in my appearance..

Joining your Gym was the best decision I made . Everyone is motivating everyone its very uplifting. I’ve struggled with my weight after having both my kids and its been very hard to be happy with what I see in the mirror . I’m always doing stuff for my family and putting them first as I should but sometimes as moms we forget how to have fun and changing what we

dislike most about ourselves . So I’m happy that I’m slowly making this change & doing it for ME!!!! Getting back into shape is something I’ve been wanting to do for a very long time . I’m glad I found cross-fit because it has showed me that working out can be fun!!!!
